GENERAL F.A.Qs
Q. Where does the event take place?
The Event, like every year, takes place on Kelburn Estate. The trail varies, meaning every year you can count on it being different, although seasoned attendees will notice areas of the Haunted Forest we like using. We are around an hour drive from the centre of Glasgow. You can find us at Kelburn Estate, Fairlie, Ayrshire, KA29 0BE.
Our trails historically have been around the 45 minute mark. This can vary depending on group sizes and group speeds. We always encounter some groups rushing through while other like to take their time. Due to feedback of attendees walking long periods where nothing much happened, we've shortened the trail ever so slightly; but actually raised the number of scare actors!
Q. How long does the trail last?
We have limited parking onsite as we want to keep Kelburn as green as we can. There is a charge for parking to encourage car sharing but you can get a discount on your parking if you let us know you need a space in advance. You can add this to your booking.
Q. Do I have to pay for parking?
The Haunted Forest can be a tricky space to navigate. Due to it being a natural landscape means accessibility is limited. While not impossible, the Haunted Forest has no dedicated wheelchair access, this and the narrow forest trails make for difficult navigation through the scare trail. Please consider this if you have mobility issues.
Q. How accessible is the trail?
Our tickets start at £22.50 and you can save some money when you buy a group ticket. Preview tickets are available for £18.50 and this is to reflect any potential problems we can encounter on our first night.
Q. What are the ticket prices?
We recommend the trail be attended by those of the age 16 or over. While not a set restriction, there are adult themes involved that we would deem unsuitable for children. If you are looking for something more family orientated we also provide a Halloween Event for families.
Q. Are there age restrictions?
We will be serving soft drinks, alcohol, hot drinks and hot food through the night. As usual, we will have toilet facilities available at the start and end of the trail.
Q. What facilities do you have?
Q. Advice on what to wear.
We highly advise good outdoor footwear. We recommend hats, gloves, scarfs, waterproofs and thermal layers. It's a cold, wet bumpy road ahead. If we are to get you to the extraction point, best be as comfortable as possible.
While we highly recommend watching our short film 'Blight: Whiskey Kilo', the trail acts as an individual experience, focused on those who are looking for a taste of fear. Watching the content we've produced will give you a better understanding of the universe as a whole and get you in the mood for the spooky season.
You might even meet a few of the characters on the trail!
Q. Do I have to watch the short film to understand the story?
2023 gave us a plethora of information that we used to create a new experience. Our focus is both scares and immersion. While hitting both audiences can be difficult, we've gone above and beyond offering a live trail that focuses on the scares, while the overall universe can be explored online. In both instances, we've not compromised on an entertaining story.
Q. Why BLIGHT?
We love to hear you're wanting to get involved! While we haven't set up a volunteer program for Halloween, it's something we want to achieve in the years to come. If you want to work with us, send us an email at: admin@kelburnestate.com
Q. Can I get involved?
Excessive violence, body horror, blood & gore, trauma, ptsd, anxiety, depression, suicide, mutation, adult language, varying degrees of claustrophobia, trypophobia and nyctophobia. Attendees may find themes unsettling and traumatic.
Stewards are present along the trail allowing you to leave at any time.
Q. What adult themes are included?
Hot drinks, cold drinks, alcoholic beverages and a variety of food/snacks will be available. If you choose to consume alcohol prior to the trail you must meet a suitable social standard. We reserve the right to refuse inebriated people service and trail access.
Q. Is there food and drink/alcohol available?
All the better! With heavy zombie & military influences to this years theme we encourage you to dawn a uniform or put some face paint on and join us. We do ask that any costumes remain functional as this is a forest trail, at night.
Q. Can I come in costume?
Q. What is the theme this year?
The theme we created is called 'Blight'. It takes place as a spiritual successor to 2023's Asylum. If you're a fan of Last of Us, 28 Days Later and I am Legend, then you're sure to enjoy this years theme.
